Sustainable fabrics and knitting yarns
We work with a network of certified suppliers (mainly from Italy and the EU) sourcing a wide range of products suitable for every fashion product.
When setting up a new style or collection development, materials research comes first; after receiving samples – if available – we have two options:
SELECTION: After checking our archives for suitable materials, we ask the fabric/knitting yarn manufacturer to directly ship out swatches and shade cards to our Client’s office.
RESEARCH: When our archives didn’t come in handy, or upon specific Client’s research, we run custom research through our network for a product that meets the requirements. We collect swatches and shade cards, make the first selection, and make inquiries about price, MOQ, deliveries, etc. and then we ship the selected range to the Client for his final picks.
COUTURECTS provides both services above, our sister company focused on fashion product development consultancy.
Going more specific, fabrics, and knitting yarn are produced starting from fibers; such fibers be categorized as follows:
(made with waste material)
PLANT-BASED FIBERS (with low environmental impact)
SUSTAINABLE ANIMAL FIBERS
(Produced in a sustainable way)
SEMI-SYNTHETIC – with low environmental impact
Each finished product made with the above has a certification testifying the environmental and social impact of the production cycle; here below the most common:
Global Organic Textiles Standard
Grants full traceability of organic fibers through the supply chain from the farm to the final supplier. GOTS covers both environmental and social issues in textile supply chains.
Fairtrade Certified Textiles
Certifies that Fairtrade principles have been respected by applying rigorous social, environmental, economic and security standards, during the whole textile production process.
Global Recycled Standard
Developed to verify the quantity of recycled fibers given product, provides a track and trace certification system that ensures that the claims are appropriately supported with documented evidence.
Organic Content Standard
Verifies the amount of a given organically grown material in a textile product, requiring that to take proper steps to ensure the integrity of the input material is preserved.
Ensures that every component of a product and accessory ( i.e. every thread, button and other accessories), has been tested for harmful substances and that is therefore harmless for humans, animals and for the environment.
